Effective date: July 13, 2026
Grandma's Recipe Cards ("the app," "we," "us") is designed to keep your data private. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
THE SHORT VERSION
Your recipes and photos are stored on your device and in your own iCloud. We don't have a copy.
- The app has no accounts and no login. We don't ask for your name, email, or password.
- We don't show ads, don't sell data, and don't track you across other apps or websites.
- When you scan a recipe card, the photo is sent to our scanning service to read the text, and then it's done it isn't stored by us or used for advertising.
WHAT THE APP STORES, AND WHERE
Your recipes titles, ingredients, instructions, notes, and the card photos you scan or upload are saved on your iPhone and, if iCloud is enabled, synced through your personal iCloud account. This data stays under your control. We cannot see or access your recipe library.
HOW RECIPE SCANNING WORKS
To turn a photo of a recipe card into editable text, the app sends the image to our processing service, which passes it to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) that reads the text and returns a clean recipe. The image and text are used only to produce your recipe. Our service does not keep your photos or recipes after the scan is returned. Per OpenAI's API policies, data sent through the API is not used to train its models. This data is not linked to your identity (there is no account) and is never used for advertising or tracking. The same applies when you import a recipe from a website URL.
PAYMENTS
If you buy the one-time unlock, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details.
PROTECTING THE SERVICE
To prevent abuse, the app uses Apple's App Attest, which confirms a request comes from a genuine copy of the app. This checks the app, not you.
CHILDREN
The app is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
DELETING YOUR DATA
Your recipes live on your device and in your iCloud. Delete them anytime in the app or by removing the app. We hold no personal recipe data on our end.
CHANGES
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this policy and its effective date.
